This is a woodworking project I pieced together a few months ago. It is a wine box modified into a storage chest. The dimensions are 11"W x 13"D x 7.5"H. The bottom was reinforced with solid brass corners & the top with two brass "L" brackets. The padlock & hasp are really meant for decoration.
There are 4 individual trays (constructed from masonite & pine strips) to store my pastels, watercolor pencils, colored pencils, & watercolor paints. The inside bottom has enough storage space to hold 2 tins of pencils & a few other items.
The entire box and each tray was sealed with several coats of Minwax Wipe-On Satin Poly for protection.
I think the end results turned out pretty good considering I am an amateur woodworker.
Ramon Giner (a collector of some of my work and an artisan by trade) was kind enough to send me a picture of his handiwork. The frame is made of Oak with an American Black Walnut bead.I think the black background contrasts the art cards nicely and the trim/bead adds a simple yet elegant touch. I will be posting some more up close pics when both of get some time. This is a very well done frame and I am flattered that he would put forth such an effort!
